HILO – The Jimmy Yagi Vulcan Basketball Camp returns for another year, set for July 17–20 at Pana’ewa Park Gym.
The four-day camp, for boys and girls aged 9–17, will run 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day with a $110.00 price tag and a maximum participant number of 180 campers.
Among the coaches helping to lead this year’s camp are Hawai’i Hilo men’s and women’s basketball head coaches Kaniela Aiona and David Kaneshiro, respectively, along with men’s assistant coaches Steve Kinder and Jamison Montgomery.
“We’re excited to continue to carry the legacy and tradition of the Jimmy Yagi Vulcan Basketball Camp,” Aiona said. “It’s been a great summer tradition for nearly 50 years and many of the coaches helping — myself included — have come up through this camp.”
The camp will include drills and instruction, games, contests and guest speakers along with lunch, T-shirt, basketball and a camp photo.
The Jimmy Yagi Vulcan Basketball Camp returned to Hilo last year after a two-year hiatus.
“The camp has always been a big part of summer basketball in Hilo, and we are looking forward to another great week,” Vulcans women’s basketball coach Kaneshiro said.
